چکیده

ازدواج در جامعۀ ایران، به‌ویژه در میان جوانان، دیگر یک الزام بدیهی و ازپیش‌تعریف‌شده در مسیر زندگی تلقی نمی‌شود و با الگوهای جدیدی از تأخیر و تعلیق مواجه شده است. هدف این پژوهش، فهم فرایندهای اجتماعی و فرهنگی مؤثر بر این دگرگونی و تبیین منطق کنش افرادی است که ازدواج را به تعویق انداخته یا از آن اجتناب می‌کنند. پژوهش با رویکرد کیفی و روش گراندد تئوری انجام شده است. داده‌ها از طریق مصاحبه‌های عمیق نیمه‌ساختار‌یافته با 30 ‌نفر از مجردان 32 سال به‌بالای شهر تهران گردآوری و با استفاده از کدگذاری باز، محوری و انتخابی تحلیل شدند. تحلیل داده‌ها به شناسایی پدیدۀ مرکزی «تجردگزینی در گذرگاه تنگ عافیت: بازتعریف ازدواج به‌مثابۀ انتخابی مشروط و پرمخاطره» انجامید؛ فرایندی که در آن ازدواج از یک جبر زیستی و هنجاری، به تصمیمی مشروط، محاسبه‌گرانه و پرمخاطره بازتعریف می‌شود. شرایط علّیِ این پدیده شامل فردی‌شدن ارزش‌ها، تغییر در اقتصاد عاطفی ازدواج، بحران معنابخشی به نهاد ازدواج، تجارب منفی نزدیکان و ناامنی‌های ساختاری است. این پدیده در بستری شکل می‌گیرد که با تضعیف فشارهای هنجاری سنتی، دگرگونی معیارهای کُفویَت، تغییر جایگاه اجتماعی زنان و طولانی‌شدن گذار به بزرگسالی همراه است.

Marriage in Iranian society—particularly among young people—is no longer perceived as a self-evident and pre-defined milestone in the life course and is increasingly marked by patterns of delay and suspension. This study aims to understand the social and cultural processes underlying this transformation and to explain the logic of action among individuals who postpone or avoid marriage. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach and grounded theory methodology. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with single adults aged 32 and above in Tehran and analyzed using open, axial, and selective coding. The analysis led to the identification of the core phenomenon of “Choosing Singlehood in the Narrow Passage of Safety: The Redefinition of Marriage as a Conditional and Risk-Laden Choice.” This process reflects a shift in which marriage is redefined from a biological and normative imperative to a conditional, calculative, and risk-laden decision. The causal conditions shaping this phenomenon include the individualization of values, transformations in the emotional economy of marriage, a crisis of meaning surrounding the institution of marriage, negative experiences of close others, and structural insecurities.
